When my son told me he was getting married, I was ecstatic. I had always dreamed of seeing under the chuppa in a traditional Kittel. However, when we went shopping for kittels, I was disappointed by the lack of stylish options available. Most of the kittels we found had either long, pointed, or rounded collars, which seemed outdated. Many had white buttons that were very visible and were decorated with lace. They were often composed of see-through material which is quite unflattering in photographs. None were made to accommodate a bowtie or knotted tie.
I set out to design the ideal Kittel for my son. The modified stand-up collar allows for the bowtie or properly knotted tie to show. The hidden closures and superior quality cotton make for beautiful wedding photographs. For religious events following a wedding, the collar will also be comfortable and stylish if worn just with a shirt underneath.
